Type of Break:
Doheny is a reef break. This means the waves break over a rocky or coral bottom. Be cautious of the rocks, especially during low tide.

Recommended Surfboards:
For beginners, we recommend using longboards, foamies, or fun boards. These offer stability and are perfect for getting comfortable in the water.

The state park has a gated entry. You can purchase a $15 day pass or pay $3 per hour for parking. If you're a regular, consider getting a state park pass for entry.

Showers and full bathrooms are available on both sides of the beach for a quick rinse after your surf session.
Doheny is more than just waves! You'll find volleyball courts and fire pits for some fun beach activities.

Surf Conditions:
Doheny offers a fun, peeling wave suitable for all levels of surfing. This beach is especially beginner-friendly on small to medium swells. Look for waves in the 2-4 feet range. The waves here are generally manageable, making it a great spot to learn. However, it's advisable to wear booties if entering the water at low tide, as there are spots with rocks.

This beach tends to get packed, especially on weekends. Exercise caution and be mindful when you're out on the water.

Be cautious of low tide at Doheny, as certain spots have rocks. It's generally not recommended to enter the water during this time.
